CBD Meetings and Events (CBD) - a subsidiary of The Communications Agency (TCA) has an immediate opening for a Special Events / Meetings Planning Intern. The opportunity offers hands-on experience in a rapidly growing Special Events and Meetings company in Washington DC. CBD seeks self-starters, open to gaining broad experience and sharing new ideas. CBD exposes interns to the hospitality industry, event / meeting planning protocol and administration, event publicity and public relations, marketing and product development and much more. At the end of the cycle, interns will present an event managed from conception to production. What is an Internship?SE

Internship Time Frame
Three Months or a semester. The time frame is negotiated based on individual requests and business flow. Special circumstances are allowed.


" Integrity and honesty a must
" strong verbal and written communication skills; displays effective writing skills; 
" displays leadership and strong decision making skills; able to work in a team and independent setting; 
" detail oriented and conscientious; requiring little follow-up; 
" experience with or interest in Entertainment Public Relations, Publicity and Event Marketing or Special Events
" ability to work in a fast-paced environment with the ability to multi-task
" candidate displays a high level of achievement within his/her chosen field. 

Desired Attributes:

" pending or earned degree in hospitality, public relations, communications and/or marketing
" self-starter with ability to work independently and virtually
" excellent interpersonal skills
" excellent writing skills.

General Responsibilities:

" Data collection, analysis and research regarding the events, entertainment and business environment; 
" Special Events duties: Conceptualize events, Event Case Tracking and Management 
" Vendor Selection and Follow-Up
" Compile reports and articles 
" Meeting with Hotels and Venues in the Washington, DC Metropolitan area
" Creating inventory lists
" Providing web content
" Interaction with vendors
" Provide administrative support for field-dispatched colleagues; 
" Monitor and author newsletters, blogs and web content
" Coordinate with current and potential clients
" Provide support for events and events  staff
" Conceptualizing special events
" Collaborate to produce winning proposals; includes research, writing and analysis.
" Administrative duties: filing, maintaining talent rosters, maintaining corporate newsletter
