WASHINGTON, DC – October 4, 2012 - -Improving small businesses are increasing profits in the global marketplace. Good Girl Public Relations expert Ivy K. Pendleton, MBA, proved in-depth communications trends in public relations and marketing campaigns with First Lady of the United States, Mrs. Michelle Obama and the historical South Sudan Referendum significantly increased media coverage.  Now she taps that experience in the first of a planned series of guide books that teaches small business owners, nonprofit organizations, celebrities and individuals on how profits soar when a successful brand identity is developed. The book is entitled “Good Girl’s Guide to Public Relations, Publicity and Marketing: A HOW-TO Survival Guide for the Novice” and is written from the perspective of a novice small business owner and successful entrepreneur.

Author Ivy K Pendleton drew from her many experiences as a small budget public relations practitioner to come up with real-life public relations scenarios, case studies, practical press release pitches, marketing plans and publicity plan ideas. “Publicity is free,” the author said. “You just put your business strategy, public relations and marketing perspective together in a kind of semi-permanent way and all kinds of things happen.”

Ivy also focused on reduced budgets and economic hardships faced by many small businesses. “I always admired the small business owner persona- Hard working and a Do-What-it Takes to Make it Happen Attitude, but, like most entrepreneurs, publicity planning and strategy are costly keys to success. Now I get to tie all of these characteristics together in an inexpensive self-promotion book to make that happen.”

The series will capture the grassroots, hands-on, skill of the novice marketer and individuals tasked with garnering exposure in news media and target markets, funding and managing cost-effective marketing campaigns, developing sales strategy for the global marketplace, global branding and more. The topics have a technical tone, but demonstrate a practical side as well.
